I have 15+ years of experience working in public schools with children from infants to 12th grade. My various roles have been Early ACCESS Interpreting, Head Start, ESL, In-School Suspension, Special Education, and Behavior Disorder. I also have experience with homeschooling, leading Children's Ministries, and leading Women's Ministries. I am a graduate of The University of Northern Iowa. I received my dual major Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Middle-Level Education with a focus on English Language Arts and Social Studies. My background is not only in education though. I studied Interpretation and Translation, and have a Certificate of Interpretation and Translation, Generalist. A fun fact about me is that I am a licensed cosmetologist, as well. I enjoy tutoring a broad range of subjects, but my favorite subjects to tutor are Social Studies and English Language Arts. I love teaching my Social Studies students how to be citizens, actively participate in a democratic society, and gain an understanding of current issues and events. I love teaching my English Language Arts students phonics, spelling, grammar, and reading. In my class, I provide a safe learning environment that is low in stress, high in encouragement, and allows a lot of grace for mistakes. We all make mistakes, and that is okay. We can learn from our mistakes. In my class, we can move, dance, sing, or play games to help you learn. Every student learns differently, I want to get to know you and use teaching methods that are tailored and designed to your individual needs.
