- I taught computer literacy at Wayne State University for fifteen years as a full-time faculty member.
- More than half the course was teaching Microsoft Office.
About Me
I am a passionate teacher and tutor of economics and Microsoft Office products, such as Access, Excel (including pivot tables, VLookup, Lookup, HLookup, Choose, Index, Match, XLoopup functions, Tables), PowerPoint (including creating inactive power points), and Word. My academic background is in history and economics, with a Bachelor of Science degree in History from Lake Superior State University and a Master of Arts degree in economics from Wayne State University. I also served as the department's "tech guy.". I taught microeconomics and macroeconomics at Oakland County Community College in Michigan for seven years and received excellent reviews from my students. Many students commented on my patience and willingness to take the time to explain concepts carefully and thoughtfully. The students liked that I drew out what they knew about a topic and then bridged the gap between their understanding and what they needed to know. Indeed, many students concluded they knew concepts better than they thought. I am credentialed by Microsoft as a Master Microsoft Office User in Microsoft Office 2010 and 2013. I passed a series of tests on working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. I worked in a major healthcare company, training the company's employees to use Microsoft Office. I also wrote the training manuals for three Excel classes (including a separate class on pivot tables) and three Access classes. I also did a lot of consulting within the organization for various projects using Microsoft Excel, pivot tables, and Microsoft Access.
Hobbies & Interests
In my free time, I like to hike, read books about the history of the Soviet Union, Russia, Ukraine, the United States, Great Britain, Europe, China, and Southeast Asia, and economics and working on computer-related projects involving Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and PowerPoint.
