About Me

I graduated Magna Cum Laude (GPA 3.9) with Masters in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M. My Masters Dissertation (Thesis) was about "Boolean Network Modeling of Hypoxia Stress Response Pathway" and my research work "HYPOXIA STRESS RESPONSE PATHWAYS: MODELING AND TARGETED THERAPY " was published in IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics issued May 2017. Right from childhood, learning was my passion. I was a "straight A" student all through my school years and was the school topper in the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) with highest record marks in the 25 years history of my school. My friends used to approach me to learn for exams last minute and I had different techniques to help them memorize key concepts. I am a very fast learner and very hard working, a proud Sunday School teacher and a Bible Quiz coach. I graduated my Bachelors in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering with highest distinction and was the topper in the Electrical and Instrumentation department of my college. Learning makes me happy, I love to make "mnemonics" and shortcuts which helps me to memorize easily. I love to draw, so during my bachelors I volunteered to draw all figures in the white board for teachers to teach and did a lot of volunteering to teach in my engineering class. While doing my masters in Texas A&M, I did research in "Genotypic response of stress genes in non-transformed, benign, malignant and metastatic breast cancer cell lines to chemotherapeutic agents Doxorubicin and Cyclophosphamide" where I worked on 69 stress genes out of which 50 are Internal Ribosome Entry Site (IRES) genes. I worked as a software engineer in IT as a front engineer, backend engineer and then as a Full Stack developer for 5 years, so I am also interested in coding and analysis. So my knowledge in a variety of subjects in Engineering and Biology, and my strong passion for teaching made me think about tutoring to share my knowledge with kids as I love working with them. I am very patient, fun loving, empathetic, I always think in other's shoes, especially when it comes to kids. I am a proud mother of a 10 year old daughter and teaching her made me interested in Elementary school tutoring. It was fun to relearn with her what I learnt many years ago. When I told my dad that I got accepted in Varsity Tutors, he told me one thing and that resonated with my teaching philosophy. " Teach these kids as they are your own" and that has been my motto from day one. I have tutored many students until now, and each and every one holds a special place in my heart. I cry, laugh and play with them. Their weaknesses are mine, their strength is my strength, their success and failures are all mine. I love what I am doing, and each day I look forward to be a part of their learning process, help them inculcate the same passion I have for learning and never ever hate learning, but understand the potential of education and utilize it for a far better future. I always teach my kids to aim the stars so that they can at least reach the sky. I teach a wide variety of subjects because of my Engineering and Biology background, but still teaching elementary kids makes me happy because of their innocent love. I am proud to say that I have touched the lives of lot of kids one way or the other and all the 5 star ratings and messages from the parents are the greatest rewards I will ever cherish. Thank you Varsity for helping me reinstate my passion for teaching and learning and providing me an opportunity to teach these wonderful kids.
