About Me

Professional Graphic Artist With Over 20 Years Experience I have extensive experience designing logos, books, websites, web banners, and more. I am driven by an unmatched enthusiasm for all styles of visual art. Expertise: My expertise is both technical and creative; building beautiful and accurate graphics with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. I have worked at graphic design firms, advertising agencies, in-house marketing departments, and commercial art studios. Applied Skills: As a Graphic Arts Tutor/Teacher, I work with students in 4 ways: 1- Help them develop their own visual style and voice. 2- Discover multiple approaches to any single solution. Whether struggling with Type on a Path or needing to Export multiple file formats, there is almost always more than one way to do it. Together we consider options and decide on the best technique for a particular situation. 3- Advocate for working on a desktop with a stylus and tablet rather than a mouse. 4- Encourage a life-long love of drawingwith paper, pencil, crayons, markers, not expensive art supplies. Drawing is the foundation of all visual arts. The great film directors Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator), Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy) and George Lucas (Star Wars) all keep sketchbooks and use drawing to develop and communicate their ideas. Passion: I am passionate about all forms of visual communication, but for me the graphic arts are my favorite: -Logos -Book Design -Signage -Web Graphics -Visuals for Stage and Screen -Typography* The power and purpose of the graphic arts is to help our fellow humans navigate the world. To be a Graphic Artist, whether Novice, Craftsperson, or Master, is to be a creative and collaborative problem-solver in service to your community. (Plus, it's a lot of fun!) *Typography is the study of fonts, words, paragraphs, etc., and like drawing, is foundational to all the commercial arts. Working with type is more than just letters, numbers, or special effects, it is a way to shape communication. Understanding the power and beauty of letter-forms can provide a greater appreciation of art, design, and language.
