About Me

I am a graduate of North CarolinaA & T University where I earned my Master's degree in Elementary Education. Since graduating I've continued in pursuit of my passion to educate and equip students for academic success. While serving as an elementary school and middle school math teacher, I continue to develop skills and strategies to accommodate a diversity of students and meet their individual learning needs. My desire to teach/tutoring math stems from my struggles with math as a student; prompting my discovery of resources and strategies that provides a conceptual understanding, makes connections to prior knowledge and other concepts and creating fun and meaningful math activities. To allow students to experience an effective tutoring session, I provide visuals and explicit modeling of the concept, then allow students the opportunity for extensive collaborative and independent practice to reinforce the skill. After they are assessed and show mastery, we will use that knowledge to build the foundation for the next concept and continue the cycle. In my spare time, I enjoy walking, weight training and swimming.
