About Me

Bonjour! Hola! I received a B.A. in French and a M.A.T. (Masters in Art of Teaching) in French and Spanish at the University of Maine, also attending Junior Year Abroad in L'Universit de Haute Bretagne in Rennes, France, and many trips traveling in Spain and Mexico. I have 40 years of experience teaching all levels of French and Spanish from K-12. I hold a Certificate of Teaching in the State of Florida. The bulk of my experience is teaching at the high school level with a passion for clear instruction of grammar and development of speaking proficiency, but have spent the past 7 years working at the elementary level using a variety of methods; songs, stories, games, and TPR (total physical response, a method of learning by doing). I enjoy tutoring all levels of French including AP preparation which I have successfully taught for five years and up to level 2 in Spanish. My approach is to work diligently with the student to understand what their current level of ability is, what their goals are, and then to develop a personalized plan for them to reach those goals.
