About Me

Hi, my name is Ray Ostfeld and I have been teaching mathematics for 19 years. I came to teaching as a career change after working as an actuary for many years and then taking off about 8 years to be a stay at home father. For those of you who have never heard of an actuary, an actuary is a person who financial mathematics and probability and statistics to price and monitor insurance products such as car insurance, life insurance, and pensions. I have enjoyed many years teaching algebra and geometry in both regular and alternative settings. I have helped many struggling students become successful. My students build stronger math skills and they develop the confidence necessary for greater math achievement. I love teaching math and I particularly enjoy helping students one-on-one to solve math problems. I promise to do my best to find a way or an approach to help you succeed.
