- I have worked as an accounting professional for over 25 years and spent the last 16 years teaching in higher education.
About Me
I am a graduate of Franklin University with a bachelor's degree in accounting and an MBA. I also have an applied associate's degree in interpreting/ASL Education. Teaching is one of the greatest passions of my life. As a first-generation college student, I understand not only the struggles that often accompany collegiate subject matter, but also the challenge to manage multiple, often competing priorities with work, family, community, and education roles. I have taught many courses over the past 16 years, but believe my strongest subject matters are accounting, QuickBooks, business, personal finance, and American sign language. Interestingly the vast majority of my students taking an accounting course are non-accounting majors so these students may not have a natural affinity towards or interest in the content so I believe I have mastered how to simplify this content and deliver it in a way that is interesting and understandable. I wholeheartedly believe education can open doors for students that may not otherwise ever be and so I am committed to help each student be successful in their coursework. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, cooking, board games, college football, and spending time with family and friends.
