About Me

As a reading and writing tutor, I have experience working with students from middle school to graduate programs. Through our sessions, my students have earned As on difficult essays, raised their overall class grades, improved their SAT scores, gained admission to top universities, and built their confidence as writers, readers, and thinkers. As a tutor, I make sure to foster an encouraging, patient, and flexible learning environment in my sessions, adapting to each student's particular needs, personality, and sense of humor. Whether a learner is a top-scoring perfectionist with a fear of failure or a struggling student who believes they cannot succeed, we can work together to meet their goals and improve their relationship with learning! I completed my bachelor's degree in English at Kenyon College, where I graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and with high honors. During my third year, I studied abroad for two terms at the University of Oxford, where I experienced the benefits of their one-on-one tutorial system firsthand. I also earned perfect scores on the verbal sections of both the SAT and the GRE. I tutor a wide range of subjects. Among my areas of expertise are English literature, critical reading/verbal reasoning, college application essays, test prep, and creative writing. Outside of tutoring, my personal interests include reading, writing, drawing/painting, horseback riding, and playing with my two cats.
