My students have consistently shown increased test scores and understanding, in part because I make the learning fun. Plus, I am skilled at identifying and addressing other issues that interfere with understanding (such as fear or misunderstanding of basic skills). My credentials: I hold New York state certification in Chemistry and English. At present I teach test preparation and tutor while I work on a book. In the past, I have taught middle school science, high school English, and elementary math and test-based preparation for the SAT, SSAT, ISEE in English and math. My main background is in English, but I started college in engineering school. Also I'm a published writer and have been thanked for my contributions to three award-winning books. My results: Most recently, a student I worked with credited me with helping her get a 98 on the English Regents. Another student I tutored over the summer raised his English Regents score from a 59 (failing) to a 79, easily passing. Another student over the course of a year went from failing math to getting an A-. Two of my elementary students this year got 4s in math and 3.8 in ELA.
