I am working toward an MD at Stanford University. I am happy to help with MCAT, SAT, SAT subject, AP test prep, and general academic subjects. Throughout my 8 years of experiencing tutoring middle school and high school students, I aim to help students raise their test scores through targeting points of weakness and developing the tools to conquer those areas. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy running, listening to music, traveling, and reading.

I am not teaching or grading papers, I can usually be found playing some brass instrument or another, umpiring baseball, trying out a new recipe in the kitchen, or spending far too much time on Netflix.

I am well-equipped to help students improve their reading comprehension and essay writing skills. As an avid reader and writing enthusiast, I naturally find great joy in reviewing and editing the work of others. Although writing is incredibly stylistic, it is also remarkably formulaic. With proper preparation, all students are capable of fine-tuning their craft with effective methodologies and strategies all that is needed is the right guidance and support.

I'm currently the co-founder of a software-as-a-service company based in NYC. I left law to pursue my passion for technology and I've learned a tremendous amount by working in the tech startup space.

I am a recent graduate of St. Agnes Academy in Houston, Texas and a current sophomore at Vanderbilt University studying Economics and Human and Organizational Development. I was first introduced to Varsity Tutors when I received tutoring for the math section of the SAT during my junior year of high school. With hard work, perseverance, and a wonderful tutor I was able to raise my scores significantly and see the positive results that ensued. The experience I had with Varsity Tutors inspired me to return two years later as a tutor with the hope of assisting students in reaching their full potential and attaining their ultimate goals. I have ample experience with test preparation as I have personally taken the ISEE, HSPT, PSAT, SAT, and ACT. I am an avid reader and a passionate writer and am confident that I can help students improve in these areas given that I have already helped many friends and classmates with these subjects and have had experience tutoring as a member of The National Honor Society at St. Agnes Academy. My Human and Organizational Development major, which is designed to teach students how to find solutions to human problems in organizations and communities, has helped me cultivate and expand upon both my problem solving skills and my interpersonal skills. With my skills, personal experience as a student, and knowledge I believe that I can provide students with the tools necessary to succeed. I am a recent graduate of Bowdoin College with a BA in Biology, English, and Theater. I have been tutoring pretty steadily in one form or another since middle school and am quite comfortable tackling diverse subjects in both the arts and sciences. As a native Spanish speaker, reader, and writer I have years of experience tutoring students at all proficiency levels in the language. My bilingual background has also given me the opportunity to work with native Spanish speakers in other academic subjects. I bring a compassionate and collaborative approach to teaching. I strongly believe that a tutor must treat his or her student as a teammate and not as someone who merely needs instruction. I am a private tutor with over ten years of experience on the SATs, College Essays & Applications, English, History, Math, TOEFL, and the like. I have taught for over seven years, including at such prestigious institutions as Choate Rosemary Hall, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Fordham University with a triple major in English, Philosophy, and American studies. I have two masters' degrees, and am a certified teacher in the State of Massachusetts.

I am currently a sophomore at Columbia University in the City of New York. I am pursuing a degree in Earth and Environmental Engineering with a concentration in Sustainability and Energy, and I am minoring in East Asian Studies (specifically, Japanese). After graduation, I plan on working in the renewable energy sector in either the United States or Japan.

I am an attorney located in Scottsdale, Arizona. I received my law degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. I graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in History and Economics as well.

I am a recent law school graduate from Suffolk University Law School and hold a B.S. in Criminal Justice with a minor in business from Virginia Commonwealth University. Throughout high school, college, and law school, I have served as a coach, mentor, and teacher. I coached a swim team for many years, taught swim lessons to everyone from babies to adults, and served as a volunteer assistant with a middle school ESL department. As a law student, I had the opportunity to participate in a program where I taught Constitutional Law to high school juniors and seniors at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in Cambridge, MA. I loved working with my class and watching how much they learned and grew throughout the year. One of my students was even selected to participate in a national moot court competition, and I had the privilege of coaching him through the competition and watching him compete in Washington, D.C. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about history, government, political science, and law. I also love reading and writing, and am very experienced in drafting all types of writing and papers, including personal statements and college/grad school essays. Enthusiastic, passionate, and goal-oriented are words used to describe me. I love working with students of all ages and welcome any challenge!

I am currently a junior in the University of the Sciences pursing a degree in humanities and science. I am also interested in the dynamcs of healthcare and hope to obtain a masters in health policy. I love teaching subjects in the humanities such as reading, writing and history but equally love the sciences as well. My tutoring style is hands on and I like to engage the student in their learning process. I not only want students to succeed but I want them to love the art of learning.

I'm thankful to have attended a high school that allowed me the opportunity to offer academic support to my peers. There were no material incentives - the rewards were intrinsic. Thus, I learned to love teaching for its own sake. When I came to college, the opportunities only expanded. I was able to support myself through the first year of college on this skill alone. It continued to be something I enjoyed, and it ultimately led to me directing a tutoring program - the Let's Get Ready program, at my former high school. Now, I am excited to return to a hands-on teaching role, bringing to it all the insight I have gained over the years, from varying perspectives.

I am a graduate of Arizona State University. I received my two Bachelors of Science degrees in Biological Sciences (Animal Physiology and Behavior) and Political Sciences with a certificate in Civic Education. Since graduating, I have started working with the Denver Math Fellows helping close the opportunity gap for high need students by providing small group math instruction. I find the most excitement in tutoring middle school math and science, Algebra I, and General Biology. I find that for most students what makes any subject hard is being unable to use what you already know and not knowing how to tackle the subject. I want to help students by giving them multiple access points and allowing them to access whatever content they desire at their current level. I believe the most important way to help students learn in is to relate content to their current interests and future goals. In my spare time, I enjoy reading non-fiction about technology and neurobiology, hiking, watching sports (mainly football and basketball) and listening to jazz and classical music.

I am a senior at Georgetown University majoring in International Politics. I currently live at home in Maryland. I have always been a high-performing student who loves learning, and I hope to help other individuals succeed in school as well. I understand that being a good tutor is about more than just being intelligent, and I look forward to individualizing my tutoring approaches to what works best for each student. I also believe that creating a positive, encouraging environment helps people learn better, so I like to think I have a good sense of humor!

I am able to offer tutoring in a wide variety of History classes and standardized tests because I have spent the last two years as a high school History teacher for Teach For America, which has made me familiar with teaching practices that translate well into one-on-one instruction. I am also familiar with test-taking strategies and test preparation in the SAT, LSAT, GMAT and AP Exams because I have taken each exam myself and have previous experience tutoring others for those exams. My approach to tutoring focuses on building self-confidence and connecting each student's individual strengths and experiences to the subject matter to make it easier to master.

I am able to give directions, provide helpful feedback regarding homework and other areas of study, and be a source of information for related topics and have expanded my areas of tutoring to liberal arts topics like English and History. Furthermore, I want to be an example of how it is possible to not only survive but thrive in school, even if things don't go exactly as planned and guide students through the challenges of, among other things, the right balance between classwork, extracurricular activities, and socialization.
