I am a rising sophomore at Harvard College and am about to declare as a Mechanical Engineering concentrator, working towards a Bachelor of Science degree. I've always enjoyed sharing my knowledge with my peers and those around me and have done so in both formal and informal settings. I've been a tutor for both Math and Spanish programs in high school and enjoyed the strides I made with students. I am willing to tutor any subject I have a background in, but am strong in mathematics, the sciences, Spanish, history, writing, and ACT prep. I enjoy teaching mathematics most due to the joy I can see in children once they master a topic and can answer even pointed questions meant to stump them, and maybe even put their knowledge to real world use. As a tutor, I like to give a strong foundation to orient my student, and then gradually grant them more freedom and independence until they can feel themselves grasp the concept, pointing out pitfalls or common errors along the way; teachers who used these methods on me always left the most lasting impressions. Outside of my studies, I really enjoy listening to music, both old favorites and new interests, reading classics, and gaming/playing basketball with my friends.

I am a graduate of the University of Chicago where I received my undergraduate degree in political science. Right after graduation, I worked as an academic and test prep tutor as well as admissions consultant in Hong Kong. For the past two years, I worked with a number of students to help prepare them for college in the United States.

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania. I have been tutoring for over 6 years now, and I have found it to be an extremely rewarding and enjoyable experience. I specialize in mathematics, particularly at the high school level, and I also have experience tutoring other subjects. I also have done SAT prep for the mathematics section of the New SAT and am very familiar with the recent changes to the exam. These collegial and yet very focused discussions go a long way toward helping me to discern where the student needs help and helping the student to master the content he or she must learn, besides ensuring a pleasant and interesting learning experience.

I am a licensed physician from Florida who is currently changing careers. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009 and have extensive tutoring and editing experience. While a student, I became a certified writing tutor through the Critical Writing Department. Since I completed my writing requirement at the University prior to matriculating, I was the first freshman tutor to be accepted into this selective program. The tutoring program involved a preliminary peer-tutor training course prior to beginning tutoring, in order to certify that I had the appropriate background to provide professional feedback to fellow students on their literary works and projects. After graduation, I worked for a full-service learning center where I created and implemented high school lesson plans for home-schooled students, provided academic support for students ranging in ages from 8 to 20 years old, and taught group and individual standardized testing preparation classes. I have also assisted students with application essays for various undergraduate and graduate programs.

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Chicago majoring in Classics and Theatre. However, my college uses the core curriculum and as a result, I've had a well-rounded, eclectic education covering everything from math to fine arts. I've won awards in community service, dance, and film, but most notably, 20 writing prizes before I reached eighteen. I was a National Merit Semi-Finalist in high school and I've had a passion for education and the art of learning since I was a child. I especially had a passion for the Critical Reading and the Writing portions of the SAT's and the SAT 2 in Literature. I am a rising junior at Princeton University pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy with a certificate in Statistics and Machine Learning. I am highly passionate about education: during the academic year, I serve as a volunteer tutor for the Petey Greene Program, which provides educational assistance to those incarcerated in New Jersey prisons; after graduation, I hope to work toward becoming a high school mathematics teacher. I am a rising Sophomore at Princeton University. I am majoring in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, most likely with a minor in Computer Science. During my Junior and Senior years of High School, I tutored a few students on a regular basis. I specialize in Math and Science. More specifically, my strongest subjects are Algebra 1/2/3, Geometry, Trigonometry and ACT Science. I have always found the maths and sciences to be both the most interesting subjects, but also the most applicable to real world problems - this is why I chose to major in what I did. Because I usually tutor in Math, I often tutor in the style of showing how to do a few problems step by step, and then having the student try a few more difficult problems, asking questions along the way. I do this because in my experience, this is the best way to learn and prepare for Math related exams. I'm Dennis. I study physics, math, and computer science. I have done research about cosmic ray acceleration at supernova shock fronts in the Princeton University Department of Astrophysics, simulating how the turbulent plasmas push protons and ions. I have also worked at the Norfolk State University Department of Engineering, designing, simulating, optimizing, and building light filters for wavelength-division optical-electronic multiplexers. Another field I study is the mathematics of quasicrystals and aperiodic tilings, such as the Penrose tiling of rhombuses.

I am a rising senior at Harvard College pursuing an AB in Government. Academically, I have diverse interests, including history, language, math, physics, philosophy, music, and politics. At Harvard, I spent a year as a course assistant in the math department, helping to teach introductory undergraduate calculus. I am a senior at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania studying Finance and Operations & Information Management. I am an Executive Board Member of one of the largest community service groups on campus, the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project, so I have had plenty of experience tutoring elementary and middle school students in reading and math in the Philadelphia area. Prior to my experience tutoring in Philadelphia, I ran an online writing program teaching essential writing skills to elementary school students and served as an Algebra I instructor at a local community center. Since that time, I've had a range of experiences in education. While at the University of Notre Dame, I tutored twice a week at the Robinson Community Learning Center. I also participated in a service trip to an alternative high school in Appalachia. As an engineer and a scientist, I am most passionate about tutoring all levels of biology and math, and I enjoy helping students preparing for the SATs or GREs. I know that these tests can be a little scary and intimidating, but it's my job to help you master the material and boost your confidence. Aside from tutoring, I love to read and cook; I am also an endurance athlete -- I hung up my basketball shoes once I realized there was no hope for me in the WNBA, and instead focused my energy on training and competing in marathons and yes, even the occasional ultramarathon! I am a recent Master's Grad in Chemistry from Princeton University.
