Hello!My name is Izzy, I'm 23 years old, and I'm originally from Danville, Indiana. I got my bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Vassar College in Spring 2018. I'm currently in graduate school to become a pharmacist - I'm in my first year of the PharmD program at Northeastern University.As you can probably guess, my area of expertise is the sciences - specifically Biology and Chemistry. However, I am also able to teach other subjects such as math through high school levels, and standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, PCAT, etc).I have been tutoring with Varsity Tutors since June 2018. While in undergrad, I was a college-level General and Organic Chemistry tutor, as well as a Chemistry laboratory instructor. Before college, I was a private nanny and homeschooling educator for an eleven-year-old student.I am happy to work with students of all ages, but I believe my skill set and experience are better suited to slightly older students (middle/high school and college).I look forward to hearing from you!

I am currently a senior in the Honors College at the University of South Florida pursuing a major in Biomedical Science along with minors in Astronomy and business law. I have had about five years of experience as a tutor so I have helped multiple students of various ages score extremely high on national tests.

Since helping my peers in both high school and college I learned that I have both a passion and talent for imparting knowledge upon others. I am a pre-med psychology and chemistry double-major.I have been a tutor for around seven years and have experience tutoring a variety of academic subjects such as calculus, creative writing, and organic chemistry for older students and test prep and elementary subjects for younger students.I also have a lot of experience working with kids with a variety of disabilities. Some of the kids I've worked with are non-verbal and non-mobile, others simply require a detailed schedule to keep them focused. Regardless of what the kid needs, I'm prepared to work with the family to make sure they achieve their goals.Finally, I attended a Jewish day school for most of my life, where in addition to regular courses, I studied Hebrew and Judaic studies. I can also speak Spanish and some Turkish and ASL.

The most valuable lesson that I have learned in my career is not to be afraid to make mistakes. Struggling through a subject can force a student to see problems from different perspectives, which leads to more confidence and better problem solving ability. The trick is to filter out the stress of struggling and focus on acquiring the skills necessary to master the subject. My role as a tutor is to help students gain this focus and increase their self confidence in the learning process.
