I am a recent graduate of the University of Rochester in upstate New York, with degrees in English Literature and French. I have experience tutoring students of all ages, from those who have just finished kindergarten all the way up to college students. I tutor in English (including reading for both younger and older students, essay prep including college essays, and editing), French of all levels, and test prep including SAT, PSAT, and AP tests in English and French. I believe that individualized teaching is most effective, and work to find methods that work best for each individual student. Some of my most rewarding teaching experiences have been young students learning to read, but also love to see a student who goes from struggling to success on their standardized tests. I am a recent graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia, where I earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees in French and Linguistics in May 2016. Sometime in the near future, I plan on going back to school to earn a Masters degree in translation. I have a passionate love of languages and language usage, and I derive great joy from helping others develop their skills in these areas. As such, I am a registered French, English, Writing, Essay Editing, and Grammar tutor. My goals as a tutor are to help students become more comfortable with the material that they are learning, to give them the tools necessary to develop study skills that are effective for them, and to impart upon them the same passion for learning that I possess, because I have seen that passion is a great motivator and tends to predict remarkable improvement. This helps them learn how to think critically about the world around them so that they become more enlightened, aware, and compassionate people. As of this moment, I'm currently taking a gap year before going off to Rice University to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry.
