Today we reviewed the conditional and future verb tenses on how to conjugate them. He was shown a video clip about the life of a native Bolivian woman, and he had to try and tell me as much as he understood from the video. The 1st time around he understood some of the conversation The 2nd time around, he understood a lot more of the conversation. We also practiced conversational Spanish.

The student and I worked on elasticity and using derivatives to solve problems. The student was engaged and willing to help out with problems. We made it through all of the units for his course and we were able to do a wide array of practice problems to get him ready for his final tomorrow.

The student read 1 passage that I brought for him to read. Before he began, I told him my expectations, like read without hesitation, and if he struggled along the way it was okay to stop and ask questions or start over. He did a good job. Then, he answered comprehension and inference questions and performed well. After that, he read a second passage and read even better. Way to go.

The student and I prepped for his final. We went over composite functions, graphing functions, and definition of a function, as well as domain and range. After giving him examples of potential problems he was very responsive and understood the concepts.

We had a general discussion in the beginning about next steps in high school in terms of continuing into French 4 and AP classes. Then we worked on reading a book they are doing in class. I gave the student some reading advice when the material is hard to get through/understand. We read one chapter together, working through the meaning sentence by sentence.

We started to cover differentiation properties relating multivariables. Partial derivatives was the main subject that we have dealt with. The student felt pretty confident after doing a several problems, and if she made mistakes, they were very minor so we were able to breeze through 3 sections. I told her that if she had any questions regarding practice problems, that we could go over the next session. For now however, she doesn't seem to have any particular problem.
