Certified Tutor

I am a retired attorney who enjoyed three different careers. After graduating from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Scient, I graduated from Loyola of Los Angeles Law School. My first career was over 20 years in private practice specializing in bankruptcy matters, principally representing bankruptcy trustees and commercial litigation. During this time, I was active in preparing and presenting continuing legal education training and training young attorneys in the law firm. During this time, I also volunteered with The Gideons International and was active in leadership and training other volunteers.

I left my law firm to join the staff of The Gideons International that operated in 200 countries to lead a new division focusing on updating the communications for its worldwide membership. In this role, I developed and delivered training to groups of 10 to 3,000 and led a staff of graphic artists and writers.

In 2009, I joined the Legal Division of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and worked on resolving failed banks. I developed and delivered training for business partners and led the planning for thee-day conferences focused on crimes against financial institutions.

I still volunteer with The Gideons International and do inspiration and technical training programs.

I enjoy taking complex issues and finding ways to simplify them so others can understand the issues. Many times it is explaining the background and process behind the concept. Learning is like building a house - you need a good foundation and then you can build a great house. I help people build that foundation and then help build on that foundation.

My goal as a tutor is to help people learn in the way that is most comfortable to them. I am a reader - I learn by reading. My son is a visual learner - he learns by watching. We all learn differently and that is the benefit of a tutor - you can learn in your own style of learning.
