I graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History and a minoring in environmental studies. I then received a Masters in History from the University of Arizona.
My experience working with students has consisted of teaching AP US and World History at a charter school in Tucson, BASIS Oro Valley, mentoring and leading discussions with undergraduate students at the University of Arizona, and giving tours to elementary school students at the Arizona History Museum. I am available to tutor students in history and in environmental science. My favorite subject to tutor is American History because of its relevance to issues that exist today and because of how it connects to so many other fields of study. I am passionate about helping students because I have found joy in learning about History and of the natural world and I am motivated to share this with others. My teaching philosophy and tutoring style usually involves finding what aspect of the subject matter captivates the students the most and guiding them so that they can find out the answers on their own. I love studying history because everything has a history. Learning more about people and places in the past can help with understanding almost any aspect of the present day. I am also drawn to environmental studies because it involves the understandings of people and of nature and their relationship with each other. I look forward to tutoring kids because I hope that my students will understand the multiple paths that history can show them. I hope to ascertain the best method for each student to learn. I also hope my students will be curious about humanity's relationship with the environment so as to better understand their own impacts on the world around them.
