Certified Tutor

I am a passionate educator who is dedicated to helping students excel, especially in areas they do not believe they will. I have worked with students between the ages of 8-13, 3rd grade to 6th grade. Taught primarily African- American and Latin-American student, so I speak a beginning to intermediate level of Spanish. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Music Performance, vocal concentration, marching band background (flute, piccolo, clarinet) from Alcorn State University, as well as a Masters of Education grades 4-8, from Mississippi College. I have taught all elementary subjects: reading, grammar, spelling, mathematics, science, social studies/history, writing. Tutoring for Praxis I and II in Elementary Education is also available. My favorite subject to tutor is mathematics, because there are "new" ways of thinking that require foundational skills I have noticed a lot of students have yet to grasp. I believe that I can assist with a healthy combination of both for understanding and mastery. My teaching philosophy is "EVERY HUMAN IS TEACHABLE!" By taking how YOU learn and what is needed for you to understand, mixing the two I believe can unlock ways to, eventually teach yourself! It's the whole point of teachers (and tutors!)!
