I am a graduate student at Central Connecticut State University, earning a Master's of Science in Mathematics Education. I am a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, earning my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. I currently teach middle school mathematics at Benjamin Jepson Magnet School in New Haven. I teach 6-8 mathematics. I also have three years of experiencing tutoring college math courses to undergraduate students.
During my time at Southern, I tutored mathematics in the Academic Success Center. I was deeply interested in providing innovative lessons to students who found mathematics difficult or uninteresting. I always applied mathematics to real-world problems and using mathematics to determine optimal solutions to various issues. These questions allow students to appreciate mathematics and understand it from a concrete perspective.
I student-taught my senior year Algebra I and Precalculus. I always found that posing interesting, yet challenging problems develop a learner's ability to attain an interest in both the mathematics and the art of problem-solving.
I continue to study mathematics education for my masters as I believe exposure to higher mathematics and mathematics education will develop my skills as a mathematics educator.
