I am a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I received a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Biology and a minor in chemistry. Since graduating this past May, I volunteered at a health clinic in rural West Virginia, and became a nationally certified emergency medical technician. I currently work part-time for a Medical Express Ambulance Services, a private ambulance company. I also occasionally work for Event Medical Solutions. They provide medical services for large spectator events such as the Chicago Bears games, Chicago Fire games, and Lollapalooza. Most notably, I was recently accepted to Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and will begin my medical education this July.
As evident, my gap year between completing my undergraduate career and staring medical school has been eventful to say the least. I have been very fortunate to accomplish my goals of gaining clinical experience and entry into medical school. The only remaining thing I really want to do before starting school again is teach. I loved helping coach the youth wrestling team in high school, and greatly enjoyed assisting my college classmates during our biology, chemistry, and physics courses when asked.
My strategy with regards to learning is to first master the basic essential information, rep out as many practice problems as possible, and then teach the information you learned to someone else. This method proved immensely effective for me throughout my college career, and I am confident it will help other ambitious students achieve their academic goals as well.
