Hey Im Dhaivil Patel! I am currently studying at the University of Georgia. I am a Chemical Engineering Major and have experience in a multitude of fields. I started tutoring students in high school as a part of a helping initiative at my school. I am very proficient in the subjects of mathematics and chemistry. I first started enjoying chemistry and mathematics in high school. I noticed that students could enjoy and like a subject just based on who was teaching them. Through this, I try to incorporate different styles of teaching to imitate the styles that allowed me to enjoy these subjects. Some examples of this include providing explanations of diagrams and going into why this occurs instead of memorizing. I also provide scaffolding and support for problems and slowly remove them as the student becomes more proficient in the topic area. I believe that if a student enjoys learning a certain subject, no matter the difficulty of the subject itself, they will be able to understand it.

I enjoy tutoring as it allows me to meet new people and help others understand a subject. My first experience tutoring involved helping 2-3 kids every week with any math or science related issue. My experience in tutoring mathematics is approximately 3 years, while my experience in chemistry is about 1. This came from helping student in the form of problem sets, teaching them previous material, reviewing for an upcoming test, helping them get ahead, and providing a second style of explanation for something covered during class.

My entire motive to become a tutor revolves around making sure that students can become as proficient as me in the subjects of science and math. I am welcome to any criticism as well as any suggestions that I could use to help prepare for sessions. I like to ask the student what they would like to focus on in the future so that I can prepare for the next tutoring session.
