I have experience with working with children between the ages of six and twelve years old from coaching gymnastics, and I also tutored high school freshman in pre-algebra last year.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Students can become independent learners by encouraging them to work on difficult problems on their own at first, rather than guiding them through each problem every single time, causing them to rely on help.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would help a student stay motivated with rewards, such as stickers and small treats, like chocolate.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would come up with mnemonic devices to help make the concept easier, and I'd break it down in smaller sections.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
I have found that assessing each student's individual strengths before we begin moving on to new concepts works well.
