Lynette: Hamilton tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of Cornell University. I received my B.A. from the College of Arts and Sciences in Psychology. I also studied Clinical Psychology at Liberty University with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. I began tutoring in high school where I helped students with Math and Reading. I tutor reading and writing but writing is my passion. I have been writing academically for over a decade. I am a freelance writer, I run a blog and I am currently working on two books. I believe that every student learns in their own way and it is my job to help my students in the way that works for them. I will use visual aids and relate what I am teaching to something my student already understands.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would get to know the student. I need to know what they are working on and what they are having trouble with. I would also like to know what they are doing well. This information will help me move the session in a productive direction.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I think it is important to set goals. When the student reaches those goals, there should be a reward. It does not have to be something big, but it must be something the student finds motivating.
What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe every student learns their own way, and it is my job to teach in a way that the student can understand. I will use any teaching aids available and use scenarios that the student can relate to.
