I received my BA in English Literature and Creative Writing with high honors from Michigan State University and have extensive experience tutoring in my school's writing center. What is your teaching philosophy?
Reading comprehension can be a difficult skill, and I would be sure to have my students read every day (even just short articles or a chapter in a favorite book). Once they have read for the day, I would have them write down, in their own words, the main points/concepts in the text itself. By deriving their own meaning, it may make the task of reading comprehension less intimidating and leave room to build.
