I have years of experience working with students ranging in age from kindergarten through college. Learning is a lifelong process, one that constantly increases our quality of life in both abstract and concrete ways. That is why assisting others in their studies is truly a joy for me. Each time a student masters a new concept or skill, their opportunities for overall success and enjoyment increase. They value their own abilities. Because, of this, academic guidance can be a critical force in a person's life. I strive to be that force, to give that critical assistance.
My teaching style blends formal aspects of instruction with engaging presentation. I'm serious about the material, but seek to communicate key concepts in entertaining ways. My students learn what they need to learn, but in a pleasurable, accessible way. In short, they reach their academic goals and have fun doing it!
I have honed my teaching skills and techniques by working with hundreds of students of all ages and backgrounds. I'm here to listen and ready to help.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Focused, step-by-step support, combined with lively interaction, motivates students to learn and grow, no matter the subject.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
My initial tutoring session with new students focuses on discovering their strengths and weaknesses in regards to their study subject and familiarizing myself with their class materials. We also discuss study skills, come up with a tutoring schedule, and then start in on key concepts.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Study skills and motivation are the key ingredients to independent learning. I provide motivation through engagement and always focus on helping my students improve their overall study skills.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Success is the best motivator. That being said, when a student's mind or willingness strays, humor can help get them back in the game.
