My background as a former elementary school teacher, online college instructor, church school director/teacher, and teen service organization coordinator provides me with extensive experience working with children and adults of all ages. I also am a certified Reading Specialist which enhances my ability to troubleshoot specific literacy issues. I've also had Orton-Gillingham training (an intensive multi-sensory reading approach targeting dyslexia and other language/reading issues). Ive been in the education field for over 20 years and my greatest joy is connecting with learners and watching them gain confidence in themselves as their academic abilities grow.

I earned my teaching credentials at Rutgers University and continued on with a Masters degree in Reading Education (Reading Specialist/Teacher certification) at Montclair State University. I have experience teaching children in all subject areas, but my specialty is literacy.

Ive been recognized as an exemplary teacher and have received several teaching awards both in my role as school teacher and college instructor and was often requested for student placements. Ive developed lasting relationships with families of former students and have celebrated their achievements such as the recent graduation from Harvard Law School and the marriage of some of my former students this past year!

My experience as a college instructor also enhances my ability to work with teens and adult learners. Ive taught classes on learning strategies and academic success techniques, early childhood education courses, reading and math methods, to name a few. Ive successfully helped students with their writing in a variety of topic areas. I edit and provide feedback on papers on a daily basis and do so with a positive and nurturing touch. Many of the adult learners in my classes have struggled with learning in the past and I offer support without judgmentI believe in focusing on a students strengths while building their weaker areas. Its my mission to help every learner make progress and fulfill his/her own potential by customizing each experience to suit individual needs.
