Steve: Brookfield tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a current undergraduate student at UF. I am a huge science geek and will be starting medical school at UF's College of Medicine in August of 2016.
I went to the Academy of Allied Health and Science for my high school education, did two years of college at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS), and have completed a semester at the University of Florida. I transferred to UF last fall as a part of the Medical Honors Program.
In terms of research experience, I have performed research at ACPHS, Masonic Medical Research Laboratory (400 hours), Harvard Stem Cell Institute (~450 hours), and the University of Florida. I am currently completing an Honors Thesis focusing on radiation-induced lung fibrosis in patients who have been treated with radiotherapy for lung cancer.
Last but certainly not least, I have great tutoring experiences dating back to high school. I have tutored honors biology, chemistry, anatomy, and physiology and have tutored college level biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and physiology.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Practice makes perfect!
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Get to know a student, how s/he interprets information, and see what progress has been made with the information that needs to be mastered.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Make them teach the information back to me at the end of tutoring sessions.
