I would not be exaggerating if I said the first French words I ever heard felt something like a calling. They were spoken like a songbeautiful and rhythmic. I knew at 14 years old that I wanted to be able to recreate something so beautiful. So I was off to four years of high school French, a B.S. in Education majoring in French from Miami University in Ohio, and more than 28 years of teaching a variety of levels to a variety of students.



It is difficult to put words around a passion that has remained in my heart through the many years of growing my own skills in French, as well as learning how best to communicate these to others. Experience speaks volumes, though, in the opportunities for growth it has provided me. My teaching career began at an all girls high school, teaching all four levels for four years. I then moved on to more than 23 years of teaching at the middle school level, working intensely with beginners. Then, in the final 3 years before retirement, I split my days between high school and middle school students, working once again with beginner and intermediate levels. Since leaving formal work in 2009, I have been engaged in working with 5-7 years olds, tutoring high school students, as well as teaching many adults who simply want to enrich their lives.



It has been more than a career, it has been an expression of life. The mosaic of classroom experiences, several trips to France and the relationships that were built along the way have been invaluable to my own wholeness and happiness. I feel very prepared to meet students wherever they may be along their learning journey, bringing along my strengths of intuitive listening, creative lessons and a calming, confident expectation to arrive at the goals successfully.
