Ever since my freshman year in high school, I would help my friends with their math homework and science problems. My talent for passing on knowledge was professionally realized when I began working as a tutor at my high school, and later at the University of Michigan. As a junior at UM, I have now been tutoring students in a wide variety of areas such as ACT/SAT preparation, PSAT preparation, and in their academic courses as well. I am in my third year of completing my Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, and as a result have developed a heavy focus in mathematics and science courses. In my previous position as a community engagement director of a youth non-profit, I hosted college and job preparedness workshops as well as implemented a tutoring program to help youth with their organizational and study skills.In addition to the volunteer tutoring I've done in youth centers, I have worked for tutoring companies for the past 4 years, specializing in middle and high school math, reading comprehension, writing, and ACT and SAT Test Prep. I continue to volunteer my services outside of those positions as well, in order to provide my expertise to families who cannot otherwise afford lessons. I primarily tutor math for middle and high school students as I have a passion for the subject being a former high school math team member. As a teacher, I try to make math understandable by using real world examples that the student can relate to. I believe that is is my job to teach the material in a variety of different ways in order to help the student to understand. Teaching undergraduate students while completing my masters degree gave me a lot of experience working with students with different learning styles and academic backgrounds.
