Currently working as an Environmental Engineer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and obtaining a background in Chemical Engineering has granted me a diverse fundamental skill set in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Writing and English. I possess an extensive history of hands-on experience in these fields ranging from internships, academic research opportunities and professional development teams that gives me greater context in understanding applicability of these concepts. The benefit in selecting me as a tutor is my ability to effectively translate high-level concepts into fundamentals that can be understood by all. My focus is to motivate my students to develop mindsets that are not afraid to take on any academic challenge. As a tutor, it is my job to make my students feel as though they can conquer the world.

What is your teaching philosophy?
With passion, patience, and perseverance, there is nothing in the world that cannot be learned.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Spend time learning each other's backgrounds, strengths and weaknesses, and outcomes of the tutoring session.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Taking time to motivate, inspire, and build academic confidence.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Consistent positive reinforcement.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Discuss which area of the concept the student is not understanding, then practice until the student understands the concept enough to teach it to me.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Lots of patience and practice.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
To be friendly, personable, and relatable. To make the student feel as comfortable as possible when interacting.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
To explain concepts in the subject in a way that the student can relate to.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
To have the student teach the concepts back to me.

Practice, practice, practice!

By discussing them with the student.

By asking what specific techniques the student prefers and adjusting my tutoring style.
