I am a current student at Georgetown University looking to earn a BS in Finance. My tutoring experience has included interning with a middle school teacher and in high school, spending free periods helping other students in various math subjects. I tutor pretty much any Mathematics, from Pre-Algebra to Calculus including AP Calc AB, BC, and SAT Math. My favorite subject to tutor is math because it has always come naturally to me and has been a passion of mine, so I want to share my interests with others who may not feel the same way. My teaching philosophy is that I believe students should focus on covering their weaknesses, learning to understand why they are having trouble with a particular topic, and then applying the best methods that work for them for future subjects. My interests outside of academics include sports, particularly tennis. I am on the club team at Georgetown and love playing and watching. I also have played piano and skied for most of my life. These are hobbies that I enjoy doing during my free time and wish to continue for the rest of my life. Overall, I would say that I love trying new things and seeing new places. I like exploring and want to experience as much as I can.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is for the student to understand their weaknesses and strive to improve them. I also feel strongly that it is far better to understand how to apply material than to memorize formulas.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would typically have them take a practice test and have them tell me what sorts of difficulties they have had (in terms of material or how to approach a problem).
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can help them by trying to get them to think outside of the box in order to solve a problem. Sometimes, we need to change our perspective in order to find the best way.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would help a student stay motivated by always staying positive and encouraging them. I believe that nothing helps more than simply having someone else believe in you.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would try to understand what exactly they are having trouble with, then I'd try to explain it to them in simpler terms. Sometimes, a concept is difficult because they have not been taught the simplest path.
