This was my first meeting with the student. We read through and completed a first round edit on her college entry essay. We discussed the concept she is covering and the requirements of the entry essay, and then we made a list of changes she should consider. We also edited for grammar and punctuation (generally very strong). We will meet again on Saturday to complete the final edits.

The student and I worked mostly on how to algebraically solve inequalities. She was, for the most part, very comfortable with these problems. She was, however, confused about when to switch the signs of the inequalities while doing the problem (e.g. when to change the < to > . After some practice, she seemed to become more familiar with when to change the sign. By the time I left, I felt that she had the concept down.
