Hello everyone! I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business Management with a minor in Information Systems. I have always loved tutoring, and I've worked multiple tutoring jobs in the past. I love seeing that click when a student understands something that they have been struggling with. I have a passion for the Spanish language. I am experienced teaching both Spanish and English. I believe that learning a second language is the most useful and fulfilling investment a person can make. The principal advantage that Tutors have over Teachers, is the ability to tailor each lesson to the student's interests and learning style. I show this in the way that I tutor and I have an innate ability to help a student begin to communicate ideas in their second language more than they ever thought possible.

After working for six years as an Upper School Religion Teacher in Greenville, SC, I have worked in Ecuador for the last three years as a teacher and team host with a global missions organization, One Collective. In that time I taught English to Spanish speakers and was certified through a TESOL program.I believe that learning a foreign language opens someone to a world of possibilities working with other cultures and interacting with new people. Similarly, I believe that learning more about religion allows someone to gain a wider perspective of their world and the world of others, fostering empathy, compassion, and peace.

I aim to bring an open mind, a positive attitude, and high academic expectations to our online classroom each day. I believe that I owe it to you, my students, as well as this learning institution. I've attended the University of South Florida, South Florida Community College and Polk State College. I'll be done with my Bachelor's degree in Fine Art December 6th, and I earned my Associate's degree from Polk State College. I've been tutoring Kindergarten through 3rd grade students in reading for the Polk County public school system for the last three years through Americorps, a national service program. The subjects that I tutor are Art History, English, Phonics, Reading, and Social Studies. I can also helps students with homework support, study skills and organization. My favorite subject to tutor is Art, and I hope to become an elementary school art teacher after completing my certification. Art is my favorite subject to teach because I like the idea of encouraging all young people to have an aptitude in self-expression through creative means, even if they don't want to pursue art as a career. I love drawing, painting, reading, writing, cooking, and hiking. I also just love to help students reach their goals. Everyone learns differently. Through my experiences as a tutor, I've learned that there are several methods and tools that can really make a difference in an individual's learning success. There is always room for improvement, and a positive attitude with a steady application of practice will help any student succeed.

I worked as a Teaching Assistant (TA) at Georgia Tech in 2010 for the General Chemistry department. As a TA, I taught the General Chemistry Lab and Gen Chem Recitation which included covering homework and concepts that were discussed in lecture. My specialties are General Chemistry, Organic & Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Physics, and Biochemistry.I am easy-going and patient. I know that learning a tough concept can take practice, and that everyone has a different way of learning. I try to make learning fun and interactive so the student can work their way through exercises on their own.

I am a graduate of The Bagwell College of Education at Kennesaw State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I am employed as a 2nd grade teacher in my local school district. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students.
