Tutoring review by John in La Porte, TX
I worked with the student on combinatorics problems including probability and number of arrangements. We covered problems that involved hands of playing cards, and circular combinations. She now understands how to do these types of problems after learning there are multiple ways to determine the answer.

Tutoring review by Matthew in La Porte, TX
Today the student and I went over more with polynomials and quadratic equations. We went over how to simplify an equation by dividing by a common factor, putting an equation in standard form, how to factor polynomials, polynomials raised to an exponent, FOIL, multiplying polynomials, factoring quadratic equations, the difference of two perfect squares, and factoring quadratic equations where the x^2 term has a coefficient other then 0. I noticed the student was consistently making two different mistakes. The first was knowing how to properly change an equation into standard form, for example knowing that 30 must be subtracted from BOTH sides in an equation such as x^2+x=30. She kept adding 30 to both sides. Her other problem was multiplying polynomials (and exponents) incorrectly. The student kept multiplying the first term and the second terms separately. Where (x+1)^2 should be x^2+2x+1, she kept making the mistake of saying that it was x^1+1. We corrected those mistakes. We established rules and a system of how to think about solving quadratic equations. We also went over some study guides. This included review of the properties: commutative, associative, identity, and distributive, simplifying complex rational numbers into simpler ones, absolute value bars, and adding and subtracting with positive and negative numbers.

Tutoring review by Dhara in La Porte, TX
We covered a review that was assigned to the student. It covered derivatives, mean value theorem, and related rates. The student struggled only with related rates and I will be assigning homework on that for next session. The student received a 14/15 on quiz and is doing well in the class. Today's session was dictated by the student and went extremely well.

Tutoring review by Danielle in La Porte, TX
Both students had an exam the day following our tutoring session, so we focused on reviewing for their test during our session. We started with double object pronouns. We did several written and oral practice problems. The girls were strong with the written problems and after we worked for a while on the speaking problems, they did very well. We then reviewed some vocabulary, comparatives and superlatives. The girls felt confident going into the exam.

Tutoring review by Mary in La Porte, TX
We reviewed proofs involving congruent triangles and CPCTC. These proofs are more involved and contain overlapping figures. The student did very well and is planning before writing down steps, which is the best way to be efficient.
