Tutoring review by Christian in Forney, TX
Today the student and I covered problems dealing with internal voltages in synchronous 3-phase generators and using the National Electrical Code tables to solve for complex impedance in circuits. We also tackled a problem involving non-dimensionalized quantities to prepare for the next session. In both problems he dealt with the material well. The main strategy that we discussed (and have been using) is using the practice exam solutions to work backwards and develop methods for solving generalized problems from the specific problems we encounter. He is going to continue working on problems this week ahead of our Friday session. We are going to tackle the non-dimensionalized quantities problem on Friday.

Tutoring review by Kendra in Forney, TX
Today we continued with simplifying radicals. We moved into how to simplify when multiple variables are present, when fractions are present, as well as when the radical is in the denominator of a fraction. The student did really well, taking her time and working through the steps. Once she had the methods down, I have her a few little hints to speed things up and make it a bit easier. Overall a great job!

Tutoring review by Corbin in Forney, TX
For this session, the student and I focused on looking at his test he took earlier last week. He made an 83 on his test, which is an improvement from his earlier tests. The questions that he missed were due to not reducing the fractions to lowest terms, or not showing his work, or not understanding the problem, which were very few. He showed improvement on his calculations of radicals and improper fractions. We also worked on his order of operations being worked on in class. He had no trouble with smaller order of operations, but we will need more review with the longer problems.

Tutoring review by Liban in Forney, TX
We covered the math section, but focused more on test-taking strategies. I gave the student the initial tips to skim through the section, identify the easy problems first, then take his time answering them. As I had him practice said concepts, I noticed he still rushed through problems which led to getting some rather easy questions wrong. I decided that he should show his work on paper from now on, regardless of difficulty, to avoid such unnecessary mistakes. I ended the session showing him how many questions he needed to get right in order to do well on the test.
