I believe education, especially self-education, is the cornerstone of human endeavor. I don't mean this in the traditional sense. School (i.e. traditional education) is a means to an end. What is that end? The formation of thoughtful fellow humans.Thoughtful (thought full!) humans bring inquisition to everything. That means they think about math but also sports and love and history and progress. I hope to help not only with specific learning goals but also to guide in the formation of tools that will help students explore the world more rigorously and less monotonously.I look forward to creative exploration!

I believe that the love of learning is something that should be taught along with any content. I love to explore new ways of teaching ideas and skills so students feel engaged and excited about what we are doing. I feel strongly about using multiple modes of learning to help students grasp concepts and new ideas. The more ways they experience the information, the better they will understand and retain it.I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I can remember and I have loved taking on new challenges. I completed my student teaching in an urban school in Washington, DC where I put to the test everything I had learned as a teacher candidate and learned a few new tricks along the way. I went on to teach 3rd grade for 2 years before leaving full time work to be home with my children. As a full time teacher, I taught students at all academic levels and taught an intervention math class for students in danger of failing the CRCT. Besides tutoring, I have run a small preschool for 2 years. I have loved working with children of all different ages and finding ways to help them learn and to be excited about learning.

My goal is to aid in the educational development of adolescent students in multiple subject matters. I am a history-secondary education major, with a minor in psychology, and have experience teaching in the classroom at the secondary level. Therefore, I can bring new and proven methods to tutoring young students, as well as expertise within the subjects of history, writing and psychology. I am also a proven successful test taker, having scored a 2000 on my SAT exam, passed 4 AP Tests, passed the Praxis II exam, scored a 700 on a History SAT Subject Exam, and passed the EdTPA Teachers Proficiency Exam. Therefore I can teach skills and strategies for test taking to improve scores.

As someone with a physical and reading disability, I find it important to make learning accessible to everyone. I have a BA in psychology and a MS in computational biology (with a focus on neuroscience) from Rutgers University. After receiving my Masters degree, I taught an Intermediate Algebra course and a Cell Membranes course at Rutgers. At the same time, I was tutoring psychology and neuroscience at the University's Learning Center, where I came across students with a wide range of learning styles and strengths. I try to adopt a strengths-based approach to tutoring and teaching, spending time outside of tutoring sessions breaking down concepts to match students' needs. Outside of academia, I spend a lot time writing music and singing, in order to express my emotions and experiences in life.

I currently hold an EdD in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University and have over ten years experience working in Online Higher Education. My dissertation was titled, Sustainable Attitudes Amongst Management Staff at ABC University.During my undergraduate schooling, I majored in Art and was a member of the NCAA Womens soccer team. My junior year I spent the summer abroad in England and studied International Communications at Oxford University.My education also includes a Master Degree in Mass Communications from San Jose State University, and a post doctoral certificate in plant based nutrition from Cornell University. I am a certified TEFL professor and teach ESL from ages four to adult. In addition, I have taught at the high school and elementary level. I have been told by both students and supervisors that I am able to make abstract concepts fun and understandable. I am the proud mother to a seven year old boy named Jesse. In my spare time I enjoy running and yoga.

I am a student at Loyola University Chicago pursuing a History major and Math and Spanish minors.I study History because I think understanding the problems and decisions of the past can help inform our decisions to shape the future. I love problem-solving and I see the study of History as a way to inspire our future solutions.It is in part due to this that seeing all the inequalities in the world and knowing something can be done inspires me to work to alleviate these inequities and work to better our communities. I know many people have an ignored voice and I want to help them be heard.

I am an undergraduate student at Nova Southeastern University. As a Biology major and a Public Health minor, I am passionate for the sciences. As a reader, I've always loved the English language and literature. Throughout high school, I've tutored in numerous Advanced Placement science and English courses, as well as in the ACT English and Reading sections.
