About Me
I have spent my career helping students learn how to think, write, and solve problems with confidence. As a university professor, historian, and writer, I have taught students ranging from middle school through graduate school in subjects including history, English, ethics, writing, and critical thinking. I believe the best tutoring begins with listening: understanding where a student is, identifying what is getting in the way, and building a path that fits that student's goals and learning style. Whether I am helping a student prepare for an AP exam, strengthen writing skills, understand a difficult historical concept, or organize ideas for an essay, my goal is always the sameto help students become more confident, more independent learners. I enjoy working with curious students of all ages and look forward to helping each one reach their own definition of success.
Hobbies & Interests
Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading history, literature (especially British), as well as philosophy, exploring museums and historic sites, and spending time outdoors or at the beach with my five children and our animals. I'm an avid reader with a particular interest in how history, ethics, science, and literature intersect, and I love helping students discover unexpected connections between ideas. When I'm not teaching or writing, you'll usually find me with a book, wandering in the woods, or planning the next family adventure.
