I have enjoyed working with students and tutoring them in my free time through volunteering on the weekends and just recently throughout the academic year. I spent two summers tutoring SHSAT prep with DeltaPrep, where I helped middle school students work through math and reading questions, practice test-taking strategies, and build stronger problem-solving habits. I have also tutored elementary students in English and math through Step Up Tutoring, and I have worked with younger students through NYC Chinese School. As a tutor who has worked with many students of various different ages, capabilities, strengths and subjects, I always try to be first very compassionate, patient, understanding and encouraging. Compassion goes a long way for many students, and it's my philosophy to connect with my students and to never give up on them. I know that students often do not struggle because they are not capable, but because a concept has not been explained in a way that makes sense to them yet. My goal is to create a supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as they learn. I want students to not only improve their grades or test scores, but also become more independent and confident in how they approach new problems. I'd like to set up my students for success in the future, by having the necessary foundational knowledge and skills to build the confidence to explore new methods, problems and subjects.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy learning about science and healthcare, volunteering in my community, and finding ways to support younger students and the elderly. I value patience, communication, and consistency, and I try to bring those qualities into every lesson. I enjoy watching basketball, listening to music, running and exercise in my free time.
