Using real-life examples, visual aids, and topics of interest to the student are important to maximizing the learning experience. Adding fun and humor are ways to keep the student engaged, and it will help to create a relationship of trust between the student and the instructor. I have about nine years of experience as an elementary school teacher, although I am no longer in the profession full time. Most of my teaching career was spent in fifth grade, followed by third grade. However, my lab classes in college exposed me to all grades between preschool and fifth grades. My daughter encouraged me to become a teacher because she said I had a gift of being able to help her understand concepts she didn't understand in school. I'm from a large family, and I have a genuine love of children. It is an honor to work with students, to build confidence, and to help them reach their potential. I look forward to directly working with students again!
