Without that relationship, there is no trust, no confidence, and no inclination to change or grow. Students must have faith in us and believe in our faith in them. Thirty years ago, I left a career in the film business to teach because I needed a career that I felt mattered. One that was important. And working with young people is important. It was the best professional choice I ever made.

I've been a runner for more than forty years, a writer for more than thirty years, a teacher for more than twenty years, and a weirdo my whole life. Spending time with my family is the highlight of every day.
