About Me

I am a 37 year old fine artist working with whatever medium will allow me to explore the stories I want to tell. My degree specialization is painting and drawing, but I expanded my education to include printmaking and book arts, as well as more industry-based skills like character design for tv and movies and sequential art (think sunday funnies and comic books). My style of imparting artistic skill encompasses two ideas: (1) Art is communication. Learn the 'rules' so that you, as the artist, can bend the rules with intention and bring the viewer into your world. (2) Internal motivation is key. Finding a student's internal motivator and weaving that into whatever skill we are working on is something I consider imperative to long-term success. I have less than a year of formal tutoring experience, but I do have more than 2 years of professional experience working with disabled and neurodivergent adults and children with varying access needs, teaching both life skills and art classes.
