5+ years of tutoring
Mario
- I'm a bilingual (English/Spanish) tutor with a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.S. in Psychology from ASU and 8+ years helping students thrive.
- I also tutor Spanish (conversation through grammar), study skills, and math topics up to Pre-Calculus.
About Me
I have helped over 2,500 learners from K-college and formally reviewed more than 1,000 essays across English, history, philosophy and social sciences. My style blends the Socratic method with clear, actionable coaching. I ask guiding questions to spark insight, then give concrete steps or advice. Students describe me as adaptable, organized, and motivating; parents appreciate that I meet learners where they are and build durable skills: reading closely, writing clearly, thinking critically, and managing time with confidence. What I offer: Writing & essays (brainstorm to final polish; MLA/APA/Chicago) Reading & critical analysis (incl. literary analysis) Spanish (beginner to advanced; academic & conversational) Study skills, executive function, and project planning Math up to Pre-Calc (concepts explained simply, with visuals) Creative Projects (Video Editing, Writing, Music, and more) Test prep focus areas: reading, writing, logic problems and testing skills I believe great tutoring is part craft, part care: clear goals, smart practice, and steady encouragement. Whether your student needs a calm guide, a rigorous editor, or a creative collaborator, I'll tailor sessions to their strengths and turn challenges into a plan they can trust.
Hobbies & Interests
When I’m not tutoring, I’m usually building worlds or feeding my curiousity by learning new things. I GM tabletop campaigns like Dungeons and Dragons, cook weekly experimental dinners, and dabble in music production and video editing. I’m a lifelong philosophy reader with a soft spot for science and AI, especially the growing field of interspecies communication. I enjoy gaming (strategy/RPGs/MOBAs), keeping up with new tech, and experimenting with creative tools. I’m also a dog person, my Aussie, Gambino, keeps me moving.
