About Me

As an enthusiastic and dedicated educator with a Master's in English Education from the State University of New York College at Brockport and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (minor in math) from the State University of New York at Albany, I have over 35 years of experience in both tutoring and classroom settings. I am passionate about helping students discover their unique voices, reach their full academic potential, and build confidence in their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. I enjoy guiding students through all aspects of English language arts, from close reading and literary analysis to clear, effective writing. I also support students as they prepare for the SAT and ACT, focusing on test-taking strategies, timing, and skill development. In addition, I work closely with students on college essays and personal statements, helping them craft authentic, polished writing that highlights their unique strengths and voice. I tailor lessons to each student's learning style and goals, helping them master core skills while developing a deeper appreciation for literature and effective communication. Beyond subject mastery, I aim to equip students with transferable skillstime management, independent learning strategies, and confidence in their own abilitiesthat will serve them well in college and beyond. Whether guiding a student through complex literary analysis or providing feedback on a personal statement, my goal is always the same: to empower students to think critically, write authentically, and approach learning with curiosity and confidence.
