In high school, I won two national awards for writing and attended many writing workshops and peer review sessions; I've since helped many of my friends develop their writing skills. I've taught middle school students clarinet and struggle and adapt to learning the fundamentals of rhythm, sight-reading, and expression. I'm passionate about teaching because I think that teaching students difficult material expands their mindsets as well as their skill sets. I believe that it is possible to learn anything given practice and an openness to ask questions, so learning new things is fundamentally an exercise in inquisitiveness and willingness to accept new challenges.
