I've studied figure drawing and oil painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and at Western Kentucky University (WKU). At WKU. I received dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Writing and Literature. I was a Penn Warren scholar, and I have published works of poetry, literary criticism, and creative non-fiction. I favored agrarian authors whose works of fiction led me to the study of agricultural systems and related works of non-fiction. Subsequently, I obtained my Master of Arts degree in Social Responsibility and Sustainable Communities at WKU. Since graduation, I have taken a more active approach to study and prefer my hands in the dirt to my head in the clouds. I obtained my Permaculture Certification from Scott Pittman in Costa Rica and my Aquaponics Certification in Hawaii. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and Writing. In my experience helping struggling students, we always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable advancements) bringing out their personality in writing to give a real sense of ownership to the task. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it is integral for opening avenues of opportunity in life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading books with my son, drawing, tending my food forest and veggie beds, and playing Dungeons & Dragons.

I love to read and draw, but my extroversion will only allow so much of that! I also love to garden and explore nuances of plants and insects with my son and fellow gardeners. There is always something new to discover in nature- a whole microcosmic drama under our feet. When I'm not drawing, reading, or gardening, you can find me out at a game night with friends.
