About Me

From the moment I began helping classmates in middle school study for math quizzes, I realized how much I enjoyed guiding others toward understanding. Over time, that spark grew into a genuine passion for education. What drives me most is witnessing the transformation in a student's confidencethe moment when confusion gives way to clarity, and they begin to believe in their own abilities. Tutoring, for me, is not simply about helping students achieve better grades; it's about empowering them to trust their capacity to learn and grow. My journey as a tutor began in high school, where I volunteered as a math tutor for underclassmen struggling with algebra and geometry. I worked one-on-one with students after school, helping them tackle difficult problems and build foundational skills. This early experience taught me how patience and consistent encouragement could make a lasting difference. In college, I served as a teaching assistant for general chemistry at the University of Virginia, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Biology in 2023. I supported students in both lab and lecture settings, helping them not only grasp complex scientific concepts but also develop critical thinking strategies that would serve them beyond the course. Outside the classroom, I have worked as a private tutor for middle school, high school, and college students in subjects such as biology, chemistry, math, and physics. I was also hired as a substitute teacher for Albemarle County Public Schools, where I've led classrooms across a wide range of grade levels and learning styles. These roles have strengthened my ability to adapt my teaching approach, build meaningful connections with students, and meet learners where they are academically and emotionally. Currently, I am pursuing a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOMVirginia), continuing to deepen my understanding of science and the human experience. My teaching philosophy centers around empathy, adaptability, and active engagement. I believe in creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My tutoring style blends clear explanations with practical examples, and I often encourage students to talk through their reasoning as a way to reinforce understanding. Whether I'm guiding a student through a tough problem set or introducing new material, I aim to build both their knowledge and their confidence. Outside of academics, I am passionate about community service and healthcare. I volunteer as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. These experiences have shaped my interpersonal skills and deepened my commitment to service, both in the classroom and in the clinic. In my free time, I enjoy practicing martial arts and exploring the outdoors as a way to recharge and stay grounded. Helping students succeed is something I view not just as a joy, but as a responsibility. I'm committed to making learning an empowering experience, and I bring that dedication to every student I work with.
