- After leaving the clinical setting I was a Primary Autism Teacher for grades 1st -3rd.
About Me
I received my bachelors from Western Carolina University (2006) in the area of Special Education and my Masters in Education from Ashland University (2013). I started my career as a Classroom Behavior Therapist where I gained extensive knowledge in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and instructing students with Autism. I loved getting to take the skills I gained as a Behavior Therapist and transfer them into the classroom setting and watch my students grow. These skills prepared me for my forever career as an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist working with children ages 3-6. Pre-Kindergarten is my home and I enjoy every moment of helping my students grown and learn in a fun, play based setting. My student make up is a half typically developing peer and half students with disabilities. I am trained in Fundations, undergoing training in, Early Childhood LETRS, a program that builds fundamentals of reading instruction and have trained in Heggerty, a phonemic awareness curriculum and have seen enormous growth with child using these resources. Mathematics is an area that myself struggled with as a child and now I love teaching it! I believe that every child is able to succeed at their ability. Outside of work I enjoy traveling, gardening, and reading.
