About Me
I graduated with a BA in Elementary Education/reading Endorsement from Briar Cliff University in Iowa and received my MA in Instructional Leadership from Morningside College, also in Iowa. I have a passion for Literacy, and extensive knowledge and experience with Foundational Reading Skills (Print Concepts, Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, High-Frequency Words, and Fluency. My expertise in this area ensures that I am able to teach my students to learn read so they may ultimately read to learn. I enjoy seeing the joy on children's faces when they overcome a challenge! My teaching style is gradual release, or "I do", "We do", You do". I am an avid reader myself. I also enjoy walking my dog, brushing my cat, traveling and shopping.
