Most of my positions in education have provided me with the opportunity to work with multilingual students and families, with a heavy focus on literacy. I took my current position because I saw an opportunity to grow my skills to the behavior side of education at a time when students and educators need more support. As a Student Services TOSA, I have been responsible for putting systems and structures in place to support student behavior. I work with the school PBIS team to identify students in need of behavior interventions, implement and coordinate the intervention programs in place, and monitor student progress. I facilitate the process of conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and support teams with the implementation of Behavior Support Plans. In addition to teaching elementary school and middle school language arts, I have also worked as a literacy coach, an assessment specialist focusing on standards-based learning and assessment, and as a reading specialist, teaching reading interventions to middle school students. I have experience as a middle school assistant principal and I have provided staff development in the areas of reading, writing, professional learning communities, standards-based learning and assessment, differentiation, instructional coaching, and response to intervention training to elementary, middle, and high school teachers and administrators. My position as Reading Specialist at the middle school level included teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th- grade tier 3 reading students as well as coordinating the school's RTI program. I created a school-wide Google-Doc where assessment data on all students was housed and was made available to all staff members. I implemented a tier 2 reading intervention program, with core teachers teaching targeted reading interventions to tier 2 reading students. I managed all school-wide data, made placement decisions for students, and provided professional development on reading instruction and how to implement a Response to Intervention System. This position provided me with opportunities to interrupt inequitable practices, examine biases, and create an inclusive multicultural school environment for adults and students. While an Assistant Principal at the middle school level, I was in charge of the staff development, the supervision of roughly 600 students, and I was responsible for the evaluations of fifteen teachers. Our main focus was to help staff understand and move forward with a Standards-Based System. All of our professional development opportunities and classroom observations focused on the use of formative assessment and student engagement. I designed a master schedule that allowed for tier 2 interventions and extensions to be taught by core teachers, kept teams intact, and allowed students to have one elective and a PE course. As the Beaverton School District's Assessment Specialist, I was responsible for articulating state standards and district learning targets, aligning curriculum to standards, developing and facilitating the use of assessments aligned to the standards. My role allowed me to ensure equally high outcomes for all participants in our educational system; removing the predictability of success or failures that currently correlates with any social or cultural factor. I was an elementary school Literacy Coach where I was responsible for providing staff development to teachers, literacy and math coaches, administrators, and district-level administrators. I assisted in writing school improvement plans in the areas of reading and writing and I was responsible for collecting and analyzing reading assessment data for program evaluation and student placement. During my years in education, I have applied creative planning and coordinating skills as a classroom teacher. I have collaborated with colleagues to design curricula and assessments that meet state and district standards, and I have planned grade level, school, and district-wide events. My leadership experiences have given me the necessary skills to manage and work with large groups of people. All of my experiences have required extreme organization, innovative thinking, adherence to multiple deadlines, and the greatest degree of professionalism.

I love to read, ride my bike, and hike. I have traveled to many different countries, including an international teaching experience in Quito, Ecuador. My family and friends are important to me and I enjoy staying active and living a healthy lifestyle.
