About Me

I'm a graduate of Emerson College with a Master's Degree in Writing, and a Bachelor's in Psychology as well as another in English. I have published six books of poetry and a memoir, and I'm an accomplished blogger. I've been a professor of English for 20 years, and I most enjoy working with students on creative work or essays. I teach ESL and SAT/ACT prep also. I believe in writing and art because I believe that art is an act of creation which is a direct revolt against destruction in our world. There's so much magic in literature, and when I'm not working or writing, you'll find me in a book! **Notes: 1) I do NOT tutor the math portion of the SAT, only English. You'll often need to get two separate tutors for the SAT. 2) It is rare that I'll do same day, last-minute appointments. Appointments must be made in advance and approved. 3) Please use the VT messaging system and/or email to communicate with me rather than calling or texting.
